This is why…

you drive with the petrol light on and the Russian air conditioner ( open the windows and let the air ‘rush-in”) as you pass through the Karoo. Once a child is asleep on a road trip there is only one goal – prolong this state for as long as possible! So when faced with the choice of stopping when the petrol gauge was on 1 bar, or trying to see if we could get to the next town and let them sleep for an extra while, the choice was obvious. Stopping was just not an option. We made it to Beaufort West with the light on but enough to get us into the petrol station and the kids had just woken up 5 mins before the town. FTW!
We left Pretoria yesterday to come and join the other members of the ART team here in Cape Town, for the pilot trip from Cape Town to Port Elizabeth. The kids managed the 16 hours in the car so well and we made really good time. I am really proud of them. We have a lot to see and do in Cape Town as we prepare for ART to start in 2 weeks time.
